Epoxy & Polyurethane Flooring on the Mornington Peninsula

Premier Polished Concrete applies epoxy and polyurethane floor coatings across the Mornington Peninsula — residential garages, commercial kitchens, warehouse and industrial floors, and stairs. Coatings are one of our services rather than our main focus, which is mechanically polished concrete. If a coating is the right answer for your space we will say so, and if another finish would serve you better we will tell you that too.

Where we apply coatings

The floors shown on this page are all our own work. They cover the range of spaces we are usually asked about:

  • Residential garages — a solid-colour coating over a prepared slab
  • Commercial kitchens and food-preparation spaces
  • Warehouse and industrial floors, including line marking set out as part of the coating
  • Stairs, treads and landings

Preparation comes first

Every coating starts with preparation, and it is the part that most affects how the finished floor performs. The slab is mechanically ground to take off existing coatings, laitance and contamination, and to open the surface so the new coating can bond to it properly. Any repairs or levelling the slab needs are carried out before coating begins.

Preparation is the same craft as the grinding we do for polished concrete, and we use the same equipment for it.

Epoxy and polyurethane — what is the difference?

Epoxy coatings are a film-forming family often chosen for garages, workshops and industrial floors, where suitable formulations can offer high chemical and abrasion resistance — though this is formulation-dependent, so the product data should be checked for your project. One common trade-off is how they behave under UV: many epoxies are prone to yellowing or chalking in sunlight, so they are often better suited to indoor floors unless specified otherwise.

Polyurethane coatings are often used as tough, more flexible topcoats, sometimes over an epoxy base. Many offer good abrasion resistance and better UV stability than typical epoxies — but this is product-specific and cannot be assumed across the board. Ask us whether it suits your floor.

What we will not promise in advance

You will not find slip ratings, chemical-resistance figures or warranty terms quoted on this page. Those depend on the particular product system, the texture and topcoat chosen, and the conditions your floor actually has to deal with — so they belong in a quote for your project, confirmed against the manufacturer documentation, rather than in a general claim on a website.

For heavier industrial use — warehouses or plants where forklifts and hot tyres are in regular service — a coating is one option among several. Depending on the demands of the space we may recommend hone and seal, or mechanically polished concrete, instead.

Why choose Premier Polished Concrete

Premier Polished Concrete was established in 2018 and is backed by over 20 years of building-industry experience and more than 100 completed projects. The business is fully insured. Because coatings sit alongside polishing, grinding and overlays in what we do, we can compare the options honestly rather than fitting every floor with the same answer.

Common questions

Should I choose a coating or polished concrete?
It depends on the slab, the space and how the floor will be used. Mechanically polished concrete is our main focus and forms part of the slab itself; a coating is a film applied over the top. We are happy to walk through both for your floor rather than push one.
Can you include line marking?
Yes — line marking can be set out as part of a warehouse or industrial floor. The blue floor at the top of this page is an example of ours.
What happens before the coating goes down?
The slab is mechanically ground to remove existing coatings and contamination and to open the surface, and any repairs or levelling are done first. Preparation is the part that most affects the result.
