Polished concrete and pavilion finishes for Main Ridge homes, cellar doors and hinterland properties — floors chosen to sit quietly under good architecture and to handle pool surrounds, terraces and working spaces alike.
What we do in Main Ridge
Main Ridge is hinterland — vineyards, larger blocks and some of the most considered houses on the Peninsula. The brief is usually a floor that does not compete with the building: a mechanically polished slab with the exposure chosen deliberately, or a seamless microcement where the slab cannot be polished.
Outdoors, the same properties want terraces, pool surrounds and entertaining areas that are comfortable barefoot and look right against the landscape, which is where a pavilion finish comes in. Cellar doors and sheds get the working finishes — sealed or factory-spec floors that handle traffic and spills.
Most relevant services: why samples cannot predict a finished floor and aggregate exposure levels .
Practical considerations
Decide the floor with the architect
On an architectural build the floor is usually a design decision made early. Aggregate exposure, sheen level and the treatment of joints are agreed before the slab is poured, not after.
Samples are a guide, not a promise
Concrete is a natural material and varies across a slab. We agree the look from samples and test areas, but no finished floor is a copy of a sample, and the honest conversation about that happens before the work.
Working spaces need working floors
A winery floor sees forklifts, hoses and acidic spills. That calls for a sealed or coated finish chosen for the use, not the showroom finish used in the house.
Common questions
- Can you match a finish I have seen in a magazine or on another house?
- We can aim for the look, but not promise a match. Different slabs contain different aggregate and were placed differently, and that is what the finish reveals.
- Do you do winery and cellar-door floors?
- Yes — sealed and coated floors for working areas, and polished or sealed concrete for the public-facing spaces.
- Do you also cover Red Hill and Red Hill South?
- Yes, Red Hill, Red Hill South, Main Ridge and the surrounding hinterland are all local to us.
